I DEMAND YOUR FINEST BACON!
"Shadow of Israphel" Part 2: The Road to Mistral is the second episode of Season 3. It was uploaded January 28, 2011. The video description reads: Reeling from the loss of the Yogcave, Simon and Lewis set off down a broken road leading to a mysterious city. They must press on through the night, and more surprises await them!
Having discovered the Yogcave in ruins, and with Old Peculier feeling ill, the heroes set off for Mistral City, the home of Skylord Lysander, in hope that they may find a healer. Their night time journey stretches into the next day, but they finally achieve their destination.
The heroes are amazed by Mistral City, and explore the town and meet new friends, Father Braeburn and Granny Bacon. Lysander urges them to take Peculier to his father's house to recuperate, but they discover the house has been burned to the ground. Little more than Peculier's portrait of Daisy Duke remains. Lysander takes Peculier to his house instead.
The heroes stumble over the smoldering remains of the Yogcave and discover the Mysterious Tree aflame. Lysander tells the heroes to follow him through the night, crossing a small stream and waterfall, probably created by the destruction of the Yogcave. They encounter a number of mobs, notably creepers on the way. Past the Celaeno crash-site, they find a suspended pathway over the ice and a tunnel that hadn't been there previously. The road appears to have sustained heavy damage in Israphel's attack, a bad omen according to Lysander. Xephos and Honeydew spot the pyramid, that they previously raided, off in the distance.
Peculier halts in the middle of the path as his condition worsens and Lysander takes the opportunity to formally introduce himself to Honeydew and Xephos, which he had previously been unable to. Lysander explains that he was one of the ruling Skylords, who held council over Mistral City. He also explains that with the destruction of The Celaeno, he may no longer be eligible to bear that title. Xephos feeds Peculier some cooked pork, enough to get him back on his feet, and they continue on down the path, just as the sun begins to rise. Lysander exclaims that he is glad the heroes will be able to view the spires of Mistral at dawn.As the heroes approach the city, Xephos spots the "gleaming spires of Mistral" that extend higher that the clouds and a number of floating towers, airship stations and houses. Peculier and Lysander reveal that after the heroes disappearance, Peculier visited to Mistral City-his hometown-to tell the locals about the grave happenings in Terrorvale. Peculier's father had served with Lysander's father during the Sand War, and therefore Lysander had agreed to assist him.
The heroes encounter Father Braeburn humming a tune outside his church. The heroes are taken back by how stylish he is, sporting a pair of gold-plated sunglasses, a white leather jumpsuit with tassels and a black quiff (not dissimilar to a certain real life star). While Xephos is greeting the Father, Old Peculier buckles over in pain and is carried to a place of rest by Lysander and Honeydew. On the way the heroes stumble across Granny Bacon and her tea room, but before they have a chance to go inside, Old Peculier cries out. They discover that his childhood home in the city has been burned down and that only a mere shell of a house remains. All that remains of the house is a few wooden walls and a portrait of Daisy Duke.
Lysander offers Peculier a place in his house for him to rest, stating that the Peculier house has been burning for days. Peculier accepts and goes back to Lysander's home with Xephos and Honeydew, where he stares out of the window, hunched over, not speaking to anybody. Lysander suggests that they let him rest while he gives the heroes a tour of the city.
Behind the ScenesEdit
- When Simon and Old Peculier are forced to re-log their Minecraft clients due to world-holes blocking their paths, Father Braeburn types "woooooooooorld holes" in chat. Something that the actor likely shouldn't have done, but the episode continued anyway. Lewis jokes that it may be a popular hit in the world of Minecraftia.
- At around 8 minutes into the video, Israphel's name-plate can be spotted in the bottom left-hand corner of the screen.
